Spring has arrived and with that, a new chapter...La primavera è arrivata e con questo, un nuovo capitolo ...

Versione Italiana Sotto

Hello all! I realize it has been a long time since I have posted an update and finally, after a very hectic few months, I'm back. By back on track, I mean to say, I remembered what my purpose is here and I want to make sure not to lose sight of that.

Since getting back to Guardia at the end of February, I have been working two jobs. I have been busy almost all the time, with not much time for anything else. Not a lot of time for my family, my friends, my partner, yoga, mindless walks and most importantly, my dream. As some of you may recall from my recent Indiegogo Campaign, my goal here in Guardia is to open a restaurant in my cantina. My plan however is to turn the space into much more than a typical “restaurant.” I want it be a space for the community, complete with artist showcases, cooking classes, open mic nights, women only events, poetry slams, special gatherings for the Military, etc. The whole purpose of my Indiegogo Campaign was to gain some “publicity” for my plans, as opposed to raising the whole amount needed for the project; this was one of the many reasons I constantly said just to share, comment, like or even donate only one dollar. I wanted people to have a clear idea of my plans and see what my vision was. That is my goal here and having been so consumed by my other jobs and little drama here and there, it was easy to lose sight of that and of what first brought me to Guardia.

I still remember when I arrived here; looking at the beautiful view with a completely clear mind. Whenever I glance out and see the curve of the mountains or the glimmer in the valley, I make sure to really soak it in and not take it for granted. That is how I always want to look at this beauty and not lose that “childlike” sight, that wonderful feeling you have of looking at something for the first time and being in complete awe. The beauty, the tranquility, the welcoming people, the feeling of community and family, the proximity to where my great grandfather was born; this is why I first came to Guardia and this is what will keep me here. I am very grateful to the two people who got me back on track and who both reminded me not lose sight of my dream.

With that in mind, I will now be starting a project which is the first step towards my goal of opening the restaurant in my cantina. My long term project will still take some time, but, I would rather take that time and do things properly so that when it is realized, it is realized in the truest and most beautiful form. I have never wanted to rush it into my plans, but would rather take my time to really think every little detail through, so that when it is up and running in real life, what I see will be exactly what I have been picturing in my mind since I first stepped foot into my cantina a year and a half ago. And I know when it is realized, it will have been well worth the wait…

VERSIONE ITALIANA
